CHINZY / BUYER’S GUIDE

How to choose an FDE provider for enterprise AI

Compare FDE teams against the same task, pilot data and acceptance method, then review deliverables, system permissions, pricing and operational ownership. Ask each team to demonstrate feasibility using your business samples.

PROJECT FIT

For business and procurement teams comparing enterprise AI, knowledge retrieval or agent delivery providers.

01

Define what a good provider means for your task

Replace “build an AI system” with a verifiable task, such as finding a maintenance procedure with its source location. Give every candidate the same sanitized brief covering inputs, outputs, existing systems, business ownership and prohibited actions.

  • For discovery, compare workflow analysis, prototyping and evaluation.
  • For defined interfaces, request verifiable evidence of integration, access control, retry handling and releases.
  • For ongoing use, compare handover, incident handling and running costs.
02

Request a comparable pilot

Build tests from authorized samples, covering ordinary questions, missing answers, conflicting documents and unauthorized requests. Agree on acceptance conditions and retain inputs, outputs, citations, timing and errors. Ask teams to explain failures and human handoff.

  • Knowledge systems: check evidence, document versions and permission isolation.
  • Agents: check tool arguments, approvals, duplicate calls and recovery.
  • Evaluation: record passing and total samples rather than only successful examples.
03

Compare quotes with the same scope

Separate discovery, development, integration, models, compute, third-party software, deployment, training and support. Compare costs at the same usage and support period, including overages, scope changes and termination terms.

  • Ownership: identify who holds source code, configuration, accounts, exports and documentation.
  • Dependencies: define fallback behavior when a model or external API is unavailable.
  • Payment milestones: tie them to inspectable deliverables and acceptance results.
04

Compare local and remote delivery

A matching city alone does not establish delivery quality. For interviews, private-network access or embedded work, confirm named staffing, dates, travel costs and site conditions. For remote work, agree on communication, test environments and documentation. Include these arrangements in the scope.

05

Make the selection evidence-based

Record evidence, gaps and open questions for task fit, pilot results, deliverables and ongoing costs. Exclude options that fail necessary requirements before comparing the remainder. Keep unsupported promises as unverified claims.

Questions before you start

Is there one best FDE provider for every business?

There is no universal answer. Tasks, interfaces, data and operations differ. Compare pilots and verifiable delivery evidence against a shared brief. This CHINZY-authored guide explains a buying method; it is not an independent ranking.

Can we start with a limited pilot?

Discuss a pilot around one workflow, interface or authorized document set. Confirm timing, fees and deliverables after reviewing the inputs; a pilot demonstration does not replace production acceptance.

NEXT / YOUR PROJECT

Turn a task into a clear project brief.

Start with a remote requirements review. Site visits, embedded engineering, equipment demonstrations, training and support depend on location, staffing and resources and must be confirmed in the written scope.

Your next conversation

Describe one task first. We can discuss scope, materials and the appropriate next step.
